Our Story

Mr. Luthra became the first generation lawyer and setup Luthra and Luthra Law Offices.

Luthra and Luthra became the early pioneers in taxation and corporate law, and in the energy sector.

The Firm was involved in the complex merger of Coca-Cola-Parle.

The Firm started India’s first Project Finance practice.

1990

Litigation practice was set up.

1995

Setup India’s first Competition Law practice.

2000

Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad offices were inaugurated.

Ranked 1st in the world in the Dealogic Global Review in the category of Global PFI/PPP Deals’. Felicitated by Member of Parliament Shri Arun Jaitley and President of the Bar Association of India, Mr. Fali Nariman in a special ceremony.

Luthra and Luthra hosted a delegation of 80 foreign law firms (Interlaw Members).

2005

Awarded the Best Law Firm Overall in India by India Business Law Journal.

Awarded the National Law Firm of the Year – India at the Chambers Asia-Pacific Awards.

Winner of the India Business Law Journal Law Firm Award for Mergers & Acquisitions.

Recognized as the ‘Private Equity and Corporate Law Firm of the Year’ for India by Finance Monthly Law Awards.

2010

Recognized as Commercial Arbitration Law Firm of the Year and Leader in Real Estate- India by Acquisition International Awards.

Recognized as the ‘India Energy and Resources Law Firm of the Year’ at the 11th ALB SE Asia Law Awards.

Awarded the ‘National Law firm of the Year – India’ at the IFLR Asia Awards.

‘Best National Law Firm for Innovation, Strategies & Continuous Growth’ award at the Legal Era Awards.

Rechristened as L&L Partners.

2015

Covid 24/7 helpline formed to help members, clients, their families and friends. This active group of lawyers worked at all hours to provide any medical assistance required. "What kept law firms going during the pandemic".

Three practice areas boomed during the pandemic namely - insolvency, advisory on renewable energy and private equity funding and investment.

The Firm announced Free legal advice for 1 year for Olympic winners.

Regained its original Identity as Luthra and Luthra Law Offices India – ‘Return of the Golden Era’.

Awarded ‘Innovative Technologies Law Firm of the year’ by Asian Legal Business.

‘Paani Foundation’ (cofounded by Rajiv K. Luthra) was ranked No.1 ‘Earth Healing Project in The World’.

The only Indian Law Firm in the Top 10 Bloomberg Clean Energy League Tables.

The Firm introduced new practice areas – ESG, Internet of Things, Estate Planning, Blockchain and Cryptocurrency.
