Overview

Rubal Bansal Maini has a diversified experience of more than 14 years in advising on complex direct taxation issues both under domestic taxation laws and international taxation laws. She brings a unique blend of business thinking and strategy to structuring complex commercial and corporate transactions from an income tax perspective.

Her background in commerce and corporate laws helps in bringing a practical and risk based holistic approach to the practice of income tax law seamlessly and effectively combines the litigation and helps in delivering the best solution to the clients. She has advised various renewable sector companies in their contractual disputes with their contractual disputes with their suppliers, tax planning and strategizing and inter-related issues in this regard. She has also advised and represented various private equity funds before various jurisdictional High Courts in the issues related to their investments especially with respect to their contractual disputes with the target company.

Her expertise pans wide range of practicing and representing various domestic and multi-national companies, including number of Fortune 500 companies in areas of domestic and international income tax laws before all forums including Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, High Courts in India (inter alia including High Courts of Delhi, Bombay, Madras, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Calcutta, Karnataka, Orissa, Chandigarh, Karnataka). She has appeared and argued various income tax appeals and writ petitions before various forums on various issues including permanent establishment, fee for technical service, royalty, liability to deduct tax at source, penalty imposed, assessments including re-assessments, trusts or charitable institutions registrations and exemptions, associated enterprises, interpretation of double taxation avoidance agreements. She has also extensively dealt with the income tax department.
